International advisory firm JLL along with OfficeFinder.pl and Nowa Warszawa Internet portal present the second edition of the Acupuncture of Warsaw research project. The initiative’s goal is to identify unique places that due to either realized or undergoing investments can contribute to further tourism, economic and business development of urban areas, which in turn, encourage the transformation of the whole city.

Analysts from JLL, in cooperation with journalists from Nowa Warszawa, have prepared three categories, each comprising 10 locations that will be voted on by Internet users. The voting, starting on Monday, 25th of May and ending on 21th June, will be open to all. Voters can select their favorite, unique places at either www.nowawarszawa.pl or www.akupunkturawarszawy.pl.

This year’s Acupuncture of Warsaw categories include:

  • The best transformation of public space in Warsaw (choose between: Czerniakowski Port, Plac Europejski Square, Plac Małachowskiego Square, Plac Powstańców Warszawy Square, Skwer Wolnego Słowa Square, Próżna Street, Square in front of the Zodiak building, Świętokrzyska Street, Targowa Street or the Vistula Boulevards).
  • The area, the metamorphosis of which has the most positive influence on the whole city (choose between: Campus of Warsaw University of Technology, Chrzanów, Łuk Siekierkowski, Miasteczko Wilanów, Odolany, Port of Praga, Rejon pod Skocznią area, Zawady, Zielona Białołęka, Żoliborz Przemysłowy).
  • The most citygenic commercial development in the Śródmieście district (choose between: Astoria, Carpathia Office House, Plac Zamkowy – Business with Heritage, Cedet, Hotel Europejski, Gdański Business Centre, Marszałkowska Centre, Nowy Świat 2.0, Q22, The Tides).

Voters should select one location from each category from those proposed by analysts. Furthermore, they can also submit their own favorite places not included in the categories' ten choices. Awards will be given to those who will provide the most interesting justifications for other locations.

Jan Jakub Zombirt, Senior Research Analyst, JLL, comments: “Warsaw’s image consists not only of infrastructural, office, retail and residential schemes. Smaller urban, private and social investments also create an impulse for area development as well as stimulate and generate an inflow of positive changes in the neighborhoods. The pace of change in Warsaw is extremely quick. With the help of Internet users, we want to underline the changes that have had the greatest significance and deserve to be recognized. Last year, the voters selected Plac Grzybowski Square, the Vistula Boulevards, and Port of Praga with the surroundings of the National Stadium. We are eager to find out which locations will be the winners in this year’s edition of our research initiative.”

Tomasz Reich, Editor-in-Chief of Nowa Warszawa, adds: “Last year’s edition of Acupuncture of Warsaw received huge interest. This has encouraged us to continue the project in 2015. Warsaw is a city that constantly changes and continues to develop. We would like to invite everyone to share their opinions on the most interesting and most crucial changes in public space. Votes can be submitted from 25th May to 21th June.”

The initiative’s partners also include: Bryła, Łowicka Centre, Eurobuild CEE, Moje Powiśle, Radio Kampus, Stolica and Twoja Praga.
