Lumen and Skylight receive BREEAM In-Use International certification

Warsaw, 7 March, 2014 – Lumen and Skylight office buildings, which are part of the Warsaw Złote Tarasy complex, received the BREEAM In-Use International certificate, achieving an “excellent” rating in the “Building Management” category and a “very good” rating in the “Asset” category. Lumen and Skylight are the first buildings in Warsaw that have been certified under the BREEAM In-Use International scheme.

BREEAM, along with LEED, are the two most well-known and popular green certification systems. Factors such as energy and water use, carbon emission, the application of eco-friendly solutions and materials, health and well-being of occupants as well as building management are all analysed in the certification process.

Among the green solutions implemented in Lumen and Skylight office buildings replacing traditional lighting with LED and installing rainwater collection tanks, to be used for plants watering, should be mentioned. Energy used in office buildings comes only from renewable sources (PTCE certificate). Most importantly, a BMS system controlling mechanical and electrical devices, which, in the long run, reduces water and energy use, was implemented. Also, amenities for cyclists including showers and lockers, and electric car charger for both tenants and guests were introduced. All of the above factors have contributed to Lumen and Skylight receiving the BREEAM In-Use International certificate with a “very good” rating.

Arnaud Burlin, Managing Director Central Europe, Unibail-Rodamco, commented: "The BREEAM In-Use International certificates obtained by Lumen and Skylight confirm the Group’s involvement both in the implementation of green real estate projects as well as the continuous improvement of existing assets. Our care for the natural environment as well as for the comfort and well-being of people working in our buildings is one of the key elements of our development strategy.”

Lumen and Skylight are part of Warsaw’s well-known Złote Tarasy complex. The two buildings offer approximately 45,000 sq m of A+ category space. The office space in Lumen is located on eight levels, offering optimum natural light. The Skylight office tower offers office space arranged on eighteen floors (levels 5-22). The second floor offices are directly connected to the Złote Tarasy shopping and entertainment centre. Additionally, the complex provides an underground car park that can accommodate approximately 1,600 vehicles.

The owner of Lumen and Skylight is Unibail-Rodamco, Europe’s largest listed property company.

Jones Lang LaSalle acts as an agent responsible for acquiring new tenants and renegotiation of current lease agreements in Lumen and Skylight office buildings.
