The Provincial Office for the Protection of Monuments in Warsaw received a request to enter the Intraco building in the register of monuments, submitted by representatives of the residents of Muranów. However, the building does not meet the basic criteria specified in the regulations on the protection of cultural heritage.
The current appearance of Intraco differs significantly from the original design. The building has undergone significant transformations, losing most of its original architectural substance. A thorough reconstruction of the façade in the 1990s resulted in the loss of its authentic architectural character, which is a prerequisite for conservation.
The discussion about the future of the building stems from the tension between its cultural symbolism and the actual state of preservation of its historical architecture. The owner of the building has declared his willingness to continue talks on ways to commemorate Intraco as part of a new investment.
We would like to remind you that on November 19, 2025, the Warsaw City Hall issued a permit for the demolition of the office building. A modern office and commercial complex is to be built in its place.
