The demolition of the Intracotower, an iconic building from 1975, has commenced in Warsaw. The site has been fenced off, confirming the actual start of demolition works.
The property owner decided to demolish the structure and plans to develop a modern office complex. A new office building approximately 107 meters tall will be constructed on the site. The new structure will offer higher-quality space and technologies meeting current market and environmental protection requirements.
Demolition works will take 12-16 months. A key element will be the safe removal of asbestos - a material typical for buildings from that era, now considered hazardous.
The future tower will have 23 floors instead of the current 39. It has been designed with sustainability in mind: facade with photovoltaic panels, energy efficiency systems, bicycle facilities, and accessibility solutions for people with disabilities. The developer intends to obtain prestigious environmental certifications, including BREEAM, WELL, WiredScore, SmartScore, and Access4You.
